BollardCap

Large diameter steel bollards are regularly used for asset protection on airports, shielding jetway units, fuel outlets, lighting poles, etc.
Until recently it has been the practice to fill the 219mm diameter x 10mm thick bollard tube with concrete finished to a domed profile to the top of the tube. Research has shown that it is not beneficial to fill the tube with concrete and thus an alternative method of closing the top of the tube is required. Not filling the hollow tubular steel bollard with concrete allows the steel to absorb much more of any impact and actually lessens the damage to the pavement into which it is cast.
The cap is manufactured from glass fibre reinforced polypropylene (PP), designed for a knock-in fit to dia 219x10mm tubular steel bollards. The cap is required to prevent the accumulation of FOD as well as to stop the bollard filling with water. Our PP caps are robustly designed and are tested as not being able to be blown out by jet-wash.
